Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the current version of Chinese Dictionary: Hanzi (汉语字典, package name: com.chinese.dictionary.hanzi) handles information and how you can manage it. For privacy questions, contact ymwotow411846@gmail.com.
1. Offline lookup and information handling
Dictionary content is installed on your device with the app. Character, word, idiom, pinyin and radical searches run locally. The app does not require an account, contain advertising, behavioral analytics or user-tracking SDKs, or operate its own server for user data. The app does not sell personal information.
The app does not read device identifiers such as an IMEI or advertising ID, or collect audio recordings, location or contacts. To provide pronunciation, it queries the text-to-speech services and voice capabilities available on your device. This does not give the app access to the contents of your other apps.
2. Locally stored information and retention
The app stores recent searches, saved entries, night mode, display language and speech preferences, and the local dictionary version in its own storage on your device. This supports history, saved entries, display and speech settings, and checks for updates to the bundled dictionary. The app does not upload these local records or settings to its own server.
This information remains on your device until you delete the relevant records, change settings, clear the app's data or uninstall the app. Recent searches are limited to 20 entries, so new searches may replace older entries. Dictionary version information changes when the local dictionary is updated. The app does not apply an additional cloud retention period to these local records.
3. Text-to-speech and third-party services
Only when you tap Pronounce is the selected character or word passed to an installed Google or system text-to-speech engine. The app does not send your full search history, saved entries or other local settings for pronunciation. If you select Natural online voice (Google) and a compatible engine and voice are available, the selected text may be processed by Google over the internet. If online speech is unavailable, the app attempts to use an available on-device voice. With system speech, internet use depends on the selected engine and voice settings.
The speech engine handles any network connection. The relevant third party may receive the selected text and technical information generated by that connection, such as an IP address. Its settings and privacy policy govern how it uses, retains and deletes that information; this app cannot make guarantees on its behalf. Pronunciation uses synthesized speech. The app does not record audio or request microphone permission.

When you visit the web version of this privacy policy, the hosting and network provider (Cloudflare) may receive your IP address and request information sent by your browser or device to deliver the page, maintain security and troubleshoot failures. This page does not embed developer advertising or behavioral analytics scripts. The hosting provider may handle service logs and necessary technical information under its own policy. 4. Copying and sharing at your request
Tapping Copy places the selected entry's content on the system clipboard, managed under your device's clipboard rules. Tapping Share or Share app opens the system sharing interface. You choose a receiving app and decide whether to complete the share. The recipient handles shared content under its own privacy policy. The app does not automatically copy or share entries without your action.
5. Permissions
The app requests internet permission to open the public privacy policy over HTTPS in an in-app WebView. When you open the page, the hosting provider receives network request information needed to deliver it. The app does not include search history, saved entries or other local records in these page requests. Dictionary lookup continues to run locally on your device.
The current version does not request camera, microphone, contacts or location permissions. Speech engines and apps you choose for sharing use their own permissions and settings.
6. Managing and deleting information
You can clear recent searches on the search screen, remove saved entries on their detail screens, and change night mode, display language and speech settings under More. Clearing this app's data in your device's app storage settings or uninstalling the app removes its locally stored records and settings.
Clipboard content, content retained by recipients of shares, and information processed by speech engines must be managed through the corresponding systems or services. Their own policies govern retention and deletion. This app cannot directly delete information held by third-party services.

The relevant email providers transmit and process that content, which is used to respond to your inquiry or request. Please do not send unnecessary sensitive information. Email providers' own policies and settings govern their retention and deletion practices. This policy does not promise a fixed email retention period.
8. Policy updates
If future versions add accounts, internet services operated directly by the app, advertising, analytics or other features involving information handling, we will update this policy to reflect the actual features and provide explanations and choices where applicable. The date at the top identifies the policy version.
